Shaafy Mohamed
Officer, Airport Operations
Shaafy is a hardworking, motivated, and humorous individual with a deep passion for the aviation industry. From a young age, stories shared by family and friends sparked his interest in aviation, leading him to pursue a career in the field. His first job at the ramp services department at 18 set the foundation for his successful journey, and today he describes his career as a positive addiction he has no intention of leaving.
Shaafy’s strengths lie in his humility, open-mindedness, and determination. He views success as the pursuit and achievement of his self-set goals, seeing challenges not as failures but as valuable lessons along the way. His colleagues often praise his passion, reliability, and positive energy, though he acknowledges the need to temper his over-friendliness at times.
A key influence in Shaafy’s life has been his father, who worked at the Maldives Airport Company Limited for 43 years, and Lionel Messi, whose rise from humble beginnings to football greatness inspires Shaafy’s own aspirations. He admires goal-oriented individuals and strives to emulate that focus in both his personal and professional life.
Outside of work, Shaafy enjoys football, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. At Skytours, he thrives in high-pressure situations, relying on teamwork, communication, and effective delegation to deliver quality service, especially when leading complex operations. A standout moment in his career was leading a VVIP operation, where he received praise from the captain for delivering top-tier service—a recognition that boosted his confidence.
Shaafy is committed to continuous self-improvement, with plans to pursue a degree in Aviation Management. He aspires to take on a leadership role within Skytours or the aviation industry in the future. He values the work environment and culture at Skytours and hopes the company will continue to provide opportunities for growth and development. His advice to anyone considering the aviation industry is simple: “Go for it—you won’t regret it.”
